getting into a good PA college?
1. My freshman and sophomore year i didn’t do so well and therefore, right now, my overall GPA is about a 3.1
2. I’ve taken accelerated history my freshman and sophomore years, but not my junior year, and this year i don’t have any accelerated classes.
3. I’m planning on taking accelerated english and history again my senior year, along with sociology at Juniata college.
4. i’m ranked in the top 30% of my class, alongside 185 other classmates.
5. I’m caucasian and have lived in PA all of my life.
6. I’m lutheran and am involved in church youth groups and activities, i have gone on church retreats and volunteer my time to my church.
7. I have acted in my spring musical every year of highschool and had a pretty big role in each of them (Not main character, but i’ve gotten callbacks for main character.. i’ve also had solo’s)
8. I’ve been a member of my school choir for 3 years
9. I was a member of student council my freshman year
10. I was a member of the key club my sophomore year, and elected secretary my junior year.
11. Next year i will most likely do key club again, along with student council. I have many volunteering hours
12. I have had job experience- working at subway and working at my community pool this summer.
13. I have played Varsity tennis for my school for 3 years, and plan on playing next year
14. I joined my school’s ski club this year and will also be doing it next year.
15. For my senior project I will be volunterring at the local hospital for about 25 hours or so.
16. I just recently took the SAT’s and i haven’t gotten the answers back yet.
17. I’m planning on taking the ACT’s also.
18. My family is financially stable, but i don’t want to spend too much for college so i’m hoping for financial aid.
I’m hoping to go to school for some kind of business, maybe study pre-law. My mom is an insurance agent for commercial lines so I suppose that’s where I got it from. I can’t decide on whether or not I’d like to study public relations, Marketing and management, or business law. Anything of the sort… so, i was looking at these colleges.
Temple U
Arcadia for pre law
University of pitt, main campus
PSU main
DeSales
Duquesne
Dickinson
Juniata College
Washington and Jefferson
Saint Joseph’s University
Villanova University
Alvernia College
Albright University
Chatham University- maybe.
If anyone could help me out with this, that would be great!!! I just want to know what colleges i could apply to that would maybe be a reach, or a sure thing. I don’t have too much time left.
i’m also planning on raising my GPA to about a 3.3 by the end of my senior year, or a 3.4 by some lucky chance. any info you know on any of those schools and my chances would be helpful, thanks!
i’m sure i will find alot more things to add details about this, but i was also wondering what schools were good with studying abroad? I think it would be fun to study in England or something. any knowledge would be helpful, thanks again!

I go to Washington & Jefferson. You might be able to get in depending on your SAT scores. The extracurriculars and tennis and working all help. Also, if you want to go pre-law, W&J has the 3rd best acceptence rate into law school and around 85% pass the LSATS (the national average is 62%). So if you can get in and get a good scholarship or grant, I would go here because it sets you up the best for the future.
I wouldnt go to Temple (its just a bad area). Pitt is good but not great, same with penn state. Duquesne also has a very good law school, but you are kind of trapped in the hill district in the heart of the city.
